Black River has been nominated for the 2022 Documentary Short Format Cinematography award by the Canadian Society of Cinematographers (CSC).
Tasked with a tiny bathroom and a low budget, the choice to shoot on iPhone felt like a no brainer. But it certainly didn’t start that way.

Ecstatic to be nominated by the Canadian Society of Cinematographers for “Wild” (Dramatic Short Cinematography), and “Lost Time” (Robert Brooks Award for Documentary Cinematography). These are two of the most bare bones-films I’ve shot thus far in terms of gear, crew and time. It’s wonderful to see non-traditional approaches recognized like this, especially alongside incredible nominees.
